Giordano Duberger Cañizarez was born on November 27, 1976 in Havana, Cuba.
He started to dance when he was very young in various dance groups and children’s activities in the community. Began to perform as a professional dancer in the dance company “Okan-Tomi” (in Yoruba language means “All my heart”), participating in various festivals such as the Festivals of the Federation of Students University (FEU), where they obtained 1st place and Festival of African Roots “Wemilere” where they got special mention, 1st and 2nd place in different years.
After, he became a part of the “Ballet Folklorico Alafia”, which also participated in the “Festival Wemilere”. They did an artistic tour of France, participating in various festivals including the “Festival Jeux Santons” in Saintes. This group is led by Domingo Pau, principal dancer of the “Conjunto Folklorico Nacional” and Elda Palacios.Giordano deepen his knowledge as professional dancer in Folkloric Company “Raices Profundas”, that was founded in 1971 and is one of the most prestigious companies in Cuba, led by the 1st dancer of “Conjunto Folklorico Nacional de Cuba”, Juan de Dios Ramos. He participated with them in various festivals and after some time he started to act roles as a solo dancer, demonstrating his artistic maturity.
Later he joined “La Compania Cubana de Danze JJ”, which was created in 1991 under the general direction of Johannes García, 1st dancer of “Conjunto Folklorico Nacional de Cuba”, participating in various events, activities, festivals, international dance workshops, etc.. This company was part of the dance troupe and Giordano got to play major roles, which provided him more experience as a dancer. Giordano also graduated “Instituto Superior de Arte, ISA”.
On October 2010 he founded the first cuban social dance school in Amenia, “HavanaDance”. He lives in Moscow, Russia, working as a dance teacher in some schools “Studio Caribe”, “Mambo Group”, “Armenycasa”, teaching in master classes for a lot of cities in Russia, Spain, Germany and participing in dance festivals like “Timbafest”, “Havana en Belgrado”, “Baila en Cuba” y others.
